Self-portrait Under Control
Selfportrait Under Control is part of a larger series that takes the remote control as a starting point to reflect on the relationship between the Self and the Other, and on contemporary dependence on self-created artifacts. Control and submission become interchangeable roles, as the object acquires agency over the subject. Using in-camera double exposure, the work embraces chance over control, allowing unexpected images to emerge. What begins as a game evolves into a shift in representation: an ordinary object becomes a form of self-portraiture, where the everyday transforms into the extraordinary.
